Where
to stay, by that we mean what type of
Whitby
accommodation are we looking for, is often
more perplexing than at first thought.
There is such a diversity of places to
stay nowadays. Essentially wherever you
decide to stay it is divided into 2 different
types, serviced accommodation, and self-catering
properties.
Irrespective
of the purpose for your Whitby
visit, serviced places to stay (hotels,
guest houses, bed breakfasts, and so on)
come in many styles and sizes, offering
something for everyone.
Whitby bed and breakfasts
are usually based in private homes with
evening meals sometimes available. On
the other hand Whitby guest houses
might be private homes or commercially
rated premises that provide bed &
breakfast, with evening meals sometimes
available.
By
far and away the most searched for type
of accommodation are Whitby hotels.
These are normally licensed establishments
providing breakfast and dinner together
with a whole host of facilities depending
on hotel size.
B&bs,
or take your pick from Whitby bbs,
bnbs, bandbs sometimes have less
facilities than bed breakfasts and guesthouses.
Nevertheless they are more often than
not excellent value for money. Hence one
of the reasons we have so many overseas
visitors.
Places
to stay are often in a quiet location.
Country house hotels for example, usually
within their own extensive grounds. Similarily,
country houses again in quiet locations
but where the style of operation may be
more informal and relaxed, providing breakfasts
and evening meals by arrangement. Farmhouses,
are essentially bed & breakfast style
of accommodation situated on working farms.
Inns,
are fully licensed establishments open
to non-residents with facilities and services
similar to those provided in hotels. Food
and beverages are usually a major part
of the operation.
Non
serviced accommodation consist of different
types, cottages, apartments, log cabins,
chalets & caravans. Sometimes referred
to as self catering or holiday accommodation.
A
budget bed breakfast
or as more commonly referred to cheap bed & breakfast
is somewhat limited in the facilities
on offer but, often present excellent
value for money. At the other end of the
scale there is a luxury bed breakfast hotel
or 5 star bed breakfast accommodation
and these achieve very high standards
indeed. |
